Injection Therapy for Pain Management
Targeted injection treatments for acute and chronic pain relief for muscles and joints
At Accuhealth we offer several different types of injection treatments and injection therapies for injury and pain management. These treatments can be diagnostic to determine the source of pain, or therapeutic as a part of a pain management program.
Our state-of-the-art facility provides the following types of injection treatment procedures:
- Trigger Point Injection
- Aponeurosis Injections
- Joint Injections
- Knee Pain Injections
Trigger Point Injection Treatments
A trigger point injection is a type of pain management treatment option which involves injecting an anesthetic and/or anti-inflammatory medication into specific areas of the muscle known as "trigger points". "Trigger points" are spots in the muscle that are tightly contracted and sometimes feel like knots to the touch. These areas can develop in response to injury to the muscle due to stress, auto injury, work-related injury, or other medical conditions and may cause pain and irritation to the surrounding tissues and nerves.
Trigger point injection treatments are performed in-office by a physician and only take a few minutes to complete. Side effects are usually minimal and most patients return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure. Pain relief is typically experienced after the first injection; however for total pain treatment programs multiple injection series may be necessary.
Aponeurosis Injection Treatments
Aponeurosis tendons are found mainly in the back, abdomen, hands and feet. When these tendons are overworked they can become damaged, inflamed and very painful. The most common form of aponeuosis is known as "plantar fasciitis," which occurs in the broad underside of the foot. Aponeurosis injection treatments are used to decrease and heal these inflamed tendons by inserting anti-inflammatory and anesthetic medications directly into the injured area.
Joint Injection Treatments
Joint injections are a type of pain management therapy which inserts anti-inflammatory, numbing or therapeutic agents directly into the joint for pain relief. Often these types of injections are used for people with inflammatory joint conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, tendinitis, bursitis, etc.
The most common type of joint injection is a corticosteroid steroid injection which decreases the inflammation in the joint and reduces pain. These types of injections are often done in a short office visit and have minimal side effects. In some cases diagnostic imagery is used to help assist with the insertion of the needle.
Knee Pain Injection Treatments
For patients with osteoarthritis of the knee we offer a special type of joint injection treatments called Hyalgan. Hyalgan is a naturally-derived treatment which helps reduce the pain and damage from osteoarthritis by replacing the body's natural joint lubricant and acting as a shock absorber and protectant from further grinding, impact or injury. For more information about this procedure please visit the knee pain treatment section of our website.
At Accuhealth all of our joint injections are performed in-house by physicians. For more information about our injection treatment programs please call 972-238-1976.
